TBT – (TAP, BALLET, TUMBLING)

•2 ½-3 yrs. of age by August, the start of the session

•1 hour class – (20 minutes of each dance style)

•1 recital dance

•This class combines all the basics of tap, ballet and tumbling technique while teaching the students musicality, classroom etiquette and body awareness.  This class also gets the students used to performing and dancing on stage and in a classroom atmosphere.  All students will learn proper dance terminology.

TB – (TAP, BALLET)

•4-5 yrs. of age by August, the start of the session

•1 hour class – (30 minutes of each dance style)

•1 recital dance

•This class teaches the basics of tap and ballet technique. Students will learn basic tap and ballet steps and combinations as well as a recital dance.  Students will gain an understanding of body awareness as well as performance skills, rhythm and musicality.  All students will learn proper dance terminology.

TBJ 5 – 6 ½ – (TAP, BALLET, JAZZ)

•5 - 6½  yrs. of age by August, the start of the session or recommended by a teacher

•1 ½ hour combination class – (30 minutes of each dance genre)

•2 recital dances

•This class teaches and reintroduces the basics of tap and ballet and introduces the genre of jazz to the students.  Students will learn the techniques of tap, ballet and jazz at the barre as well as center floor.  Students will use the technique they learn in each genre and incorporate the steps in their recital dance.  Students will learn body awareness, proper classroom etiquette, musicality and valuable performance skills.  The dancers will work on strengthening and stretching their muscles.  The students will learn and clean two recital dances as well as perform them at the recital at the end of the year. All dancers in the class will learn to work together with a group as well as memorize all formation and dance routines.  All students will learn proper dance terminology.

TBJ 7-8 ½ – (TAP BALLET, JAZZ )

•7-8 ½ yrs. of age by August, the start of the session or recommended by a teacher

•1 ½ hour combination class – (30 minutes of each dance style)

•This class introduces tap, ballet and jazz basics to new students as well as expands and refines previously learned basics for other students previously enrolled in our program.  Students will be expected to maintain proper classroom etiquette as well as develop their flexibility, strength and musicality.  Students will learn new material in each dance genre at the barre and center floor.  Students will learn and clean two recital dances as well as perform them at the recital at the end of the year.  Students will memorize dance technique and formations and learn valuable peer related skills.  All students will learn proper dance terminology

TAP LEVEL 1, 2 & 3

•9 yrs. of age by August for level 1 or recommended by a teacher for levels 2&3

•1 hour class

•Students will wear special shoes with metal taps called tap shoes.  Students will learn the basic sounds and steps of tap movements as well as the proper terminology.  Students will learn how to make rhythmic patterns and timely beats. Students will learn one recital dance, which they will perfect and clean for the recital. Students will learn tap at the barre, traveling and center floor.  Students will develop an understanding of musicality, rhythm and coordination.  Students will develop all basics and advance them by adding more beats and rhythms.  Students will learn how to free style tap as learn tap combinations.  All students will learn proper dance terminology.

BALLET LEVEL 1, 2 & 3

•9 yrs. of age by August for level 1 or recommended by a teacher for levels 2&3

•1 hour class

•A foundational technique class for all genres of dance.  Students will wear pink split sole ballet shoes.  Students will learn the basic techniques of ballet barre, across the floor and center.  Students will learn the proper terminology associated with all movements and steps.  Students will learn how to use their turnout in the five basic positions as well as develop their turnout in additional steps.  Students will learn the importance of a strong center, body placement, balance, precise technique and gracefulness.  Students will learn, clean and perfect one dance, which they will perform at the recital.  All students will learn proper dance terminology.

JAZZ LEVEL 1, 2 & 3

•9 yrs. of age by August for level 1 or recommended by a teacher for levels 2&3

•1 hour class

•Students will learn the basics of jazz technique and style.  Students will wear black slip on leather jazz shoes.  Students will learn how to properly stretch and warm up their muscles as well as work on strength and flexibility.  Dancers will learn technique as well as center floor combinations.  Students will learn how to make sharp, strong, controlled movements as well as perfect their performance abilities.  Students will learn, clean and perfect one dance, which they will perform at the recital.  Students will learn multiple across –the- floor jumps and turns; they will also learn how to incorporate the steps learned into choreography and combinations. All students will learn proper dance terminology.

Junior High/High School Lyrical/Jazz

•8th grade and up or 13 yrs. of age by August, the beginning of the session

•Recommended for those trying out for drill team

•1 hour class

•Students will learn the basics of jazz and lyrical technique. Students will learn various leaps, turns, and kicks across the floor as well as center.  Students will learn how to properly stretch and strengthen their muscles.  Students will focus on getting their right, left and center splits as well as dramatically increasing their flexibility in all their muscles.  The lyrical portion of the class will focus on contemporary movement.  The students will learn how to express emotions through choreography and music.  The jazz portion of the class will focus on sharp and stylized movements as well as encourage the students to be entertaining and outgoing with their movements.  The students will learn, clean and perform one dance of one style (jazz or lyrical) at the recital at the end of the year.  All students will learn proper dance terminology.

TEEN TURNS AND PROGRESSIONS

•Must be at least 12 yrs. of age by August, the beginning of the session

•Must have some jazz experience

•Recommended for those trying out for drill team

•Non-recital class

•1 hour class

•Students will condition and strengthen their muscles in this class as well as radically increase their flexibility.  Students will spend the last half of the class learning valuable jazz leaps, turns and kick basics.  This class is fast paced and upbeat. Students will learn a wide variety of across- the- floor steps and receive much personal attention and critiques.  Students will refine and perfect all steps and technique and learn how to properly piece multiple steps together to make an across- the- floor combination.  This is a non-recital class; students will just focus on technique the entire year.  This class is great for those who have danced in the past and want to keep up on their technique and style.  All students will learn proper dance terminology.

BEGINNING, INTERMEDIATE, ADVANCED & TEEN HIP HOP

•Must be 9 yrs. of age by August for beginning or recommended by a teacher for Intermediate and Advanced

•Teen: Must be 13 yrs. of age by August of recommended by a teacher

•1 hour class

•Hip-hop is a street style dance that is more widely used in music videos and commercials.  Students will learn the basics of hip hop technique and style as well as learning different center floor combinations to popular music.  Students will develop their musicality and learn how to rhythmically interpret the music.  Students will explore and perfect the elements of freestyle and performance.  Students will learn, clean and perform one dance at the recital. All students will learn proper dance terminology.

DRILL TEAM PREP

•8th grade and up or 13 yrs. of age by August, the beginning of the session

•Recommended for those trying out for drill team

•1 hour class

•This class prepares and trains the students to try-out for a high school drill team/dance team.  This class will focus on flexibility, strength and performance abilities.  Students will learn basic and fundamental dance steps including leaps, turns and kicks that are required in the drill team audition process.  Students will learn the traditional kick line as well as the proper hook up and kick technique. Students will learn, clean and perform one dance that contains a kick line in the recital at the end of the year.  All students will learn proper dance terminology.
